Position Overview:
Stand-By Personnel is hiring a Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Supervisor to join a food manufacturing operation in Owasso. This position is responsible for supporting the Quality Assurance and Food Safety systems, ensuring compliance with USDA-FSIS, GFSI, HACCP, and company policies. The FSQA Supervisor must be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of stepping into QA leadership roles when necessary. The role requires flexibility across shifts, including pre-op inspections and end-of-production coverage.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Serve as a working FSQA Technician as needed, ensuring daily coverage of responsibilities.
Act as a backup for the FSQA Manager and FSQA Leads.
Manage and verify records related to HACCP, SSOP, and microbiological testing programs.
Complete deviation reports, foreign material incident reports, and pre-shipment reviews.
Lead HACCP Team meetings and maintain documentation.
Participate in internal and third-party audits and assist in maintaining BRC system documentation.
Perform daily review and verification of food safety and quality records.
Communicate with FSIS personnel to address and resolve immediate compliance issues.
Ensure training and development of FSQA Technicians.
Maintain compliance with BRC standards and internal quality assurance programs.
Handle product traceability, nonconformance holds/releases, and quality tracking.
Support product inspections, COA creation, and laboratory result interpretation.
Conduct and document internal audits, inspections, and FSQA walkthroughs.
Input data into spreadsheets and generate graphs/trends for ongoing quality analysis.
Oversee pest control program and sanitation practices.
Communicate issues and updates to the FSQA Manager and other key stakeholders.
Provide support for customer audits, site visits, and GFSI audits.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: B.S. in Animal Science, Food Science, or related field (preferred).
Experience:
3+ years in Food Safety/Quality Assurance in meat or value-added food processing.
2+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory QA role.
Certifications:
HACCP Certification required within 180 days of hire.
GFSI/BRC certification required within 1 year.
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of HACCP, GMP, SSOP, and USDA-FSIS compliance.
Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
Ability to work in cold environments and adapt to a fast-paced, high-compliance production setting.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data tracking.
Spanish-speaking ability is helpful, but not required.
