ACC Careers: Where You Can Move Mountains
Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains sits one of the oldest community colleges in Colorado, Arapahoe Community College. With a rich history of educational excellence, ACC embraces a culture that values diversity, individualized support, and unwavering commitment to student success, without exception.
Colorado’s construction and skilled trades sector is booming, fueling everything from housing and community development to large-scale infrastructure and green building projects. We are seeking our first Construction Trades faculty member to lead the way in building courses and training pathways that prepare students for high-demand, hands-on careers. This is a unique opportunity to bring your industry expertise into the classroom while advancing innovative practices in the field. The ideal candidate will bring experience across multiple trades in residential and commercial construction—such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or welding—and a passion for teaching and mentoring. An outstanding candidate will bring additional experience in construction management, architecture, civil engineering, building science, industrial arts, or curriculum development. This position will collaborate with the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning to develop curriculum in construction trades which support pathways in collaboration with our high school partners. Other responsibilities include developing and evaluating curriculum; advising and retention activities; assessing student and program objectives; student learning assessment duties; serving on college committees; selecting texts; and attending departmental, school, and College meetings and functions.
The Construction Trades/Construction Management Faculty position is a full-time, 9-month faculty position in the Skilled Trades Department. ACC Faculty teach 15 credits each fall and spring semester. Faculty may have the option to teach courses during the summer semester for additional compensation. Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery methods, including face-to-face, online, computer-aided, distance learning, self-paced, and interdisciplinary. Faculty may need to teach at any ACC campus and at a variety of times (days, evenings, and some weekends).
ACC is committed to creating a community of best practices in facilitating teaching, learning, and student success. As such, we seek faculty who will be engaged members of the college community through active service on committees, collaboration with colleagues, and who possess a commitment and passion to facilitating improved outcomes for students and communities the college serves.
ACC is dedicated to supporting our faculty throughout their careers as educators, scholars, and professionals. We provide a robust offering of professional development opportunities for faculty to strengthen their skills in teaching strategies, outcomes-based practice, and reflective practice. Faculty develop an equity-minded and culturally responsive pedagogy that closes success gaps and fosters a commitment to excellence in education. Candidates with a foundational understanding of these skills and knowledge or a demonstrated growth mindset on these topics are strongly encouraged to apply.
