FLA is seeking a full-time Band and Strings Music Director for the 2026-2027 school year. The school is looking for an energetic, dedicated and inspirational music teacher who fosters and maintains an excellent music program, while engaging students and helping them develop a personal relationship with Jesus. FLA’s music program is a hallmark of the school which is robust and active in the community and local churches. Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
Applicant must be a tithe-paying Seventh-day Adventist church member in good standing and have the legal right to work in the United States, providing evidence if employed. A minimum of a bachelor's degree with North American Division (Denominational) Teacher Certification in music is required and must be maintained (or must agree to work towards obtaining NAD Certification). A master's degree in music education and/or instrumental conducting and successful experience teaching high school band and string ensembles is preferred. Applicant must be able to manage a large rehearsal room and effectively supervise and engage students, as well as have the knowledge of varied learning styles and the skill to analyze and evaluate student progress. Must have a service-oriented attitude; be an effective communicator possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills; and be able to positively engage with students and families of diverse backgrounds, regardless of language, ethnicity, race, or socioeconomic status. Possessing competent technology skills using current educational software and hardware is essential. Additional traits should include organization, attention to detail, being self-directed, and being motivated. Absolute confidentiality is required. Curriculum familiarity, content knowledge, and proficiency in instructional delivery are crucial. Most importantly, the applicant must possess a love for God, a love for working with children, and a desire to see each child in Heaven.
