Job Summary

The Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) is a residential, sex offense specific treatment program in a modified therapeutic community and secure setting that provides services to over 700 individuals who have been civilly committed for sexual offending. MSOP is a national leader in the industry and is committed to providing services on the leading edge of the comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and management of clients.

The Registered Nurse Senior provides direct, professional nursing care to civilly committed sex offenders at the St. Peter campus of the Minnesota Sex Offender Program. The Registered Nurse Senior serves as a leader and resource person for all MSOP Health Services staff members and the multidisciplinary team, while demonstrating strong communication skills through writing, non-verbal behaviors and speaking, respect, professional ethics and collaboration.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing leadership and technical direction to ensure professional nursing care and treatment meets or exceeds applicable standards which includes policies, procedures, protocols, and licensing standards.
  • Assist clients in developing optimal independence in living and coping skills.
  • Assess client needs, plan and implement the nursing care plan, and multi-disciplinary treatment programs of the clients.
  • Follow and enforce all security, safety and legal requirements to ensure a safe and secure facility so clients receive quality professional services in a therapeutic environment.
  • Serve as a positive role model to clients to demonstrate effective professional and personal behavior.
  • Work collaboratively as a team to provide clients with comprehensive treatment including completing health assessment reports, participating in review meetings, providing pertinent information to members of the treatment team as required to support overall health of clients

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current licensure in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse; AND
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing degree, plus two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse; OR
  • Associate’s degree or diploma in nursing, plus three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Certification in a relevant specialty area of nursing expertise may substitute for one (1) year of Registered Nurse experience
